Skyrim Fur Boot Armor
Skyrim Fur Boot Armor
I have been commissioned to make a pair of Skyrim Fur Boot Armor from the Fur Armor set. According to the game Fur Boots can be upgraded at a workbench with Leather, however they do not benefit from any smithing perks. This means the boots cannot be improved past flawless quality without boosting the Smithing skill over 100. This can be achieved by using enchanted items and/or black smithing potions to Fortify Smithing. Fur Boots are a piece of light armor and part of the Fur Armor set found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The Armor was shaped out of cardboard and wrapped with duct tape to create a master mold/form. I then used a thermo plastic called Worbla to faux vac-cum form the set of armored plates. I wasn’t happy with how flexible the plates were so I decided to slush some urethane plastic inside and that did the trick. Once fully hardened I bonded leather to the top side with a strong contact cement and stained the inside a darker color. The most difficult part was coming up with studs that looked like the ones in the game. The look was acheived by combining a grommet washer with a flat spot that was epoxied to a Chicago screw. Straps were made adjustable with the addition of two D-rings. Note the boots in the picture are not the ones the armor was designed for…The actual boots are UGG type that are a bit shorter than the tall Moccasin boots pictured below.
